About The Author

France Mayotte Hunter is the founder of The Seasoned Bodymind blog and Bodymind Coaching Services. Prior to this venture, France was a tenured professor at Roger Williams University’s Dance and Performance Studies Program. She is also a certified  communication consultant with the Speech Fitness Institute specializing in Mind/Body performance coaching.

 

In a previous incarnation, France was a professional dancer in NYC with the Twyla Tharp dance company, in the Broadway revival of West Side Story and in the film Hair. She spent 10 years as a commercial actress and another 10 years directing the dance program and chairing the arts department at the independent school, Greenwich Academy in Connecticut. The last 15 years were spent training dancers on a professional track at RWU and teaching such courses as Kinesiology (how and why the body moves) and the multidisciplinary senior seminar, Mind Your Body. Her research focused on Embodied Memory, Neuroaesthetics and on the history, science and psychology of the Mind/Body connection.

 

France earned her BA at Boston College where she graduated summa cum laude phi beta kappa and her MFA in Dance Performance at California Institute of the Arts. While she has spent a lifetime as a performer/dance artist, communication consultant, writer and movement educator developing a unique body/mind approach to optimal functioning, wellness and longevity, her proudest achievement is being a mother of two sons.

She currently resides in Providence, RI

About The Blog

The fundamental premise of my work is that the bodymind is a single, interdependent unit rather than two separate parts of ourselves. I am interested in the symbiotic relationship between the body and the mind as well as how a shift in awareness of this connection can impact every aspect of life. I will be writing from a number of different vantage points including scientific, psychological, physiological, historical and visceral. I will be welcoming other perspecives on this in addition to my own, especially from those who have lived embodied lives and have invaluable insights to share from their experiences.  I invite you to explore, expand and find your empassioned self through your own bodymind.

About the Bodymind Method

Bodymind Personalized Optimization will be offered in the form of one-on-one coaching and small and large group workshops. The Bodymind Method has at its heart that everyone’s bodymind is unique and what is optimal is fundamentally an individual choice. Some of the modalities include The Alexander Technique, Mindfulness Meditation, Ideokinesis, Conditioning for Muscular Balance and Metabolic Stabilization, Anatomical/Kinesiological awareness, Dynamic Alignment, Movement Improvisation and Nutrition for Health and Optimal Weight Maintenance. Each client's program is tailored to fit the individual/group's needs and goals and could be a total ground-up transformation strategy or could simply be added perspectives/layers of awareness about already established activities or fitness regimens.
